Creating Resident Activities
Have you been thinking about doing activities with your residents? Not sure how to get that idea across to your tenants? Here are some simple ideas that will not only let your tenant’s know what activities are coming up, but they might just help get your resident’s to sign a new lease with you…and who doesn’t like that…
First, create a ‘list’. It can be something simple or something with a lot of flare…that will be up to you and your budget…This will be a list of activities for them to choose from. They can mark what they want to do, turn the paper back into you and you can then plan to do the activities that most of the residents want to do. This way you don’t plan an ice cream social when they would rather have a coffee tasting
Your activities list will need to be geared towards the type of complex you have. If you have an elderly complex, odds are they aren’t going to want to have a water balloon day…
If you have a family complex, then make two lists or at least have a kid’s menu somewhere so that parents can pick things for their children to do. You want to have entertainment for everyone…
Don’t forget to think about your budget…this is very important. The best part is there are a lot of things you can do that don’t cost a lot of money.
Once you know what they would like to do, then you will need to get the word out.
This can be a bulletin board with a large calendar each month and different activities listed on several days or send out invitations for each activity. It is all up to you and what you can afford. Just make sure you do a RSVP…you want to make sure you have enough food, etc. for everyone.
And don’t worry if you don’t have much response in the beginning. Tenant’s aren’t use to this, so it might take them awhile to see there are no strings attached.
