Keeping Your Tenants – Getting the Children Involved
One of the best ways to keep your resident’s signing a new yearly lease is to keep them happy. This can be hard at times, but with a few simple suggestions, you might find it is easier than you thought…If the children on your complex are happy, the parents will be happy. Parent’s want their children to be entertained and kept busy and if you can do that right there on your complex, then why should the parent want to go anywhere else?
A water day is a great way to entertain your residents. Have water balloon games, sprinklers for them to run through, slip and slides or just a bunch of water games. All you need to make children happy is some water and fun.
Help the children on your property do better in school. Have a contest for the best grades. Whenever the report cards come out, have them bring them to your office and you count the A’s…at the end of the school year, the child with the most A’s win a prize…keep in mind that each grade level might have a different way of grading…so you might have to do different levels for each to make it fair.
Do crafts with the children. If you have an affordable housing complex, then you know these children don’t have a lot of money to spend on their parents, so helping them make something for Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, Christmas, etc. will make the children happy and receiving the gift will make the parents happy.
Plan a scavenger hunt…Give them a list of fun things to find…example: they need to bring you a picture of them with Abe Lincoln…all they have to do is take a picture of themself with a penny or a picture of Abe Lincoln…the more creative, the more points they get…
Have an Amazing Race of sorts on your property. They don’t have to leave the grounds…each building/floor can be a different “country” and/or they can find new clues to get them to the next one, until they are at the finish line…
You can do these activities as a parent/child activity or just a child activity…
And don’t forget the younger children. Do a coloring contest or simple craft for them…
